“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” -Heraclitus
Seasons change, days go by, and there will only be one January 13th, 2017. You are a different person than who you were yesterday, and that is how it will always be. (For now at least)
Cherish each and every moment that you encounter, for that will never happen again. Everybody is so worried about making the correct move that they forget to move at all. We are notorious for over-analyzing every situation that can possibly make us, or break us. What you learned yesterday got you through today, and what you will learn today will get you through tomorrow.
Embrace what you have and who you are; tangible items can be lost, perspective can be broken, and palpable memories can be forgotten all in an instant. First impressions only happen once. You can’t retract your actions nor what you said. So think twice when you don’t feel like being at work or when your attitude isn’t very welcoming.
You never know who you’re going to meet and in which way you may impact them.
So tell your parents you love them. Make amends with your siblings. Give a stranger a flower. Pay for the car behind you in the Drive-Thru. Spend the day at the soup kitchen. Volunteer. Whatever you may be feeling at that EXACT moment, embrace, take charge and act now.
You will NEVER get the same chance again.
